BUTLER, Ind. - Eastside High School will turn to an alumnus to lead the football program.
Todd Mason has been named the new head coach for the Blazers. This is his first head coaching job. He says Eastside’s football team will be heavy in the passing game using multiple formations that will spread out the opposing defense.
“It’s an honor to be coaching at Eastside,” he says. “To be able to come back and coach at your alma mater is a very special thing. It’s a surreal thing in that I don’t even know how excited I am.”
Mason replaces Mike Eschbach, who accepted another head coaching job. Mason was the quarterback coach under Eschbach last season.
Mason previously was an offensive coordinator at Leo for 6 seasons.
Mason was a 2-time All-Northeast Corner Conference running back at his alma mater, graduating in 1992. He helped the Blazers to four-straight conference championships, too.
Mason also teaches physical education and weight training at Eastside.
