March 2, 2024

Wayne senior Jevon Lewis, Jr. became the boys boys basketball program's all-time leading scorer Friday night in sectional play.

Jevon entered the Generals' sectional semi-final game against New Haven 16 points off the school record of 1,416 career points, set by Justin Mitchell in 2013.

Jevon's three-pointer early in the fourth quarter set the new mark. He finished with 18 points; and sits at 1,418 career points, as of March 1.

Wayne beat New Haven, 84-59, in the first semi-final at 4A Homestead Sectional 6. The Generals will play host Homestead in the sectional championship Saturday night. Wayne, which won back-to-back Summit Athletic Conference titles this season is looking to repeat as sectional champs, too.

Jevon is averaging 19.6 points through 23 games this season and is averaging 15.6 points in 91 career games so far.

He has committed to Bishop State Community College in Mobile, Alabama.
