PSM congratulated the Southwood Junior/Senior High School volleyball team by presenting the team a framed commemorative team photo and state championship medal ahead of the boys basketball game Tuesday night.
The Southwood community celebrated its volleyball state championship team on Tuesday, honoring their dream season ahead of the boys basketball game. PSM presented each of the Volleyknights with a framed commemorative team photo and state championship medal to highlight their accomplishment.
Southwood finished 32-4 this past fall, winning 18 straight matches and conceding just two sets after September 23 en route to the program's first state title. The Volleyknights also won its first semi-state since 2014, back to back regional, three-straight sectionals and three-straight Three Rivers Conference championships.
Also during the State Finals weekend, longtime Southwood volleyball coach and athletic director Tom Finicle was inducted into the Indiana Volleyball Hall of Fame. The state championship was Finicle's 890th career victory in 35 years at Southwood.
