Sam Meyer named new Blackhawk Christian boys soccer coach

May 14, 2019

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Blackhawk Christian School has announced Sam Meyer to be the new Varsity Boys Soccer coach at the school.  He will take the place of Bob Freeborn, who announced his retirement from coaching in the fall after 34 years as head coach of the program.

Coach Meyer currently teaches at Carroll High School and has also served as Head Coach of the Carroll boys middle school soccer program this spring.  He served as a Head Coach in the Fort Wayne United Futbol Club for 5 years before that, coaching boys and girls at several different age levels.  Prior to coaching, Sam’s playing career included a strong prep career at Bellmont High School and a 4-year collegiate career at the University of Saint Francis, where he was a team captain on both teams.

“I am excited about Sam Meyer joining an already strong boys soccer tradition at Blackhawk Christian,” Blackhawk Christian athletic director Joel Cotton stated.  “The foundation that Coach Freeborn has laid for the program is one that will continue to be built under Sam’s leadership.   I can tell already that he will take pride in our program and represent our school very well in a competitive Fort Wayne soccer community.”
