Huntington North High School has picked Mike Eshbach as its next Viking football head coach, the school announced Monday, March 20, following Huntington County Community School Corporation board approval.
Eshbach follows Bob Prescott, who coached the Vikings the last four seasons.
Eshbach brings 13 years of high school head coaching experience to Huntington North. He most recently coached Concordia in 2021. Before that, he spent two seasons at Wawasee and nine seasons at Eastside--winning three Northeast Corner Conference Small Division championships. His first head coaching job was the 2000 season at Paoli.
He also served as an assistant coach at Concordia, DeKalb, Paoli, New Haven and Bishop Dwenger. Eshbach also coached the semi-professional Classic City Crush based out of Auburn.
Eshbach was also hired as a physical education teacher at Huntington North, according to school board documents.
Eshbach will meet with high school players and their parents at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, in the Huntington North auditorium. A news conference will follow at 6:30.
