Awarding excellence in care at Parkview

It’s what we all strive for—excellence every day. And we love to celebrate the healthcare professionals who go above and beyond to make that happen. The individuals co-workers who provide an extra bit of comfort or know how to bring a smile to a patient on a rough day. The ones with a superpower for healthcare. With the DAISY, PHIL, and Guardian Angel Awards, you can recognize someone who made a difference in your care.

The DAISY Award

The DAISY Award is an international recognition program all about honoring nurses of excellence. This award began in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, whose family experienced, first-hand, the difference that nurses can make in care. Barnes’s nurses provided clinical excellence and outstanding compassionate care. As a result, his family created the DAISY Award to express gratitude to nurses and to enable other patients, families, and staff to honor others.

The PHIL Award

The FACES Foundation created the PHIL Award to recognize respiratory therapists who provide outstanding care and treatment to patients. Sharman Lamka established the PHIL Award after her husband, Philip C. Lamka, passed away from interstitial lung disease. Lamka wanted to create a way of acknowledging the valuable role respiratory therapists play in the lives of patients with life-threatening pulmonary illnesses.

Guardian Angel Award

The Parkview Health Foundation began the Guardian Angel Program as a way for patients and families to express thanks to the nurses, doctors, or anyone on our team who made a difference in their Parkview experience. With this program, patients and families can award a caregiver and, for those who choose, provide a donation to the foundation as a way to pay it forward.
