One of eight orthopedic surgery centers honored in Indiana
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – May 18, 2026 – Parkview SurgeryONE was recently named one of U.S. News and World Report’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers for 2026.
The facility was one of only eight orthopedic ambulatory surgery centers (ASC) recognized in Indiana as top performers and one of only two located north of Indianapolis.
“Ambulatory surgery centers offer a convenient, cost-effective alternative to traditional hospitals for many procedures without compromising quality,” said Dr. Chris Johnson, president of Ortho NorthEast. “At Parkview SurgeryONE, our surgeons provide fellowship-trained sub-specialized orthopedic care to more than 7,000 patients each year, including robotic-assisted knee replacement, navigated anterior hip replacement and minimally invasive spine surgery. With same-day discharge, most patients are recovering comfortably and safely at home within 24 hours. We are proud to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report for the quality and efficiency of care we deliver together.”
U.S. News and World Report evaluated more than 4,400 surgery centers for successful avoidance of post-procedural complications and low rates of emergency room visits and unplanned hospitalizations using risk-adjusted metrics that account for patients’ pre-existing conditions.
In Indiana, a total of 108 ASCs in four specialties – orthopedics, colonoscopy and endoscopy, ophthalmology and urology – were scored by U.S. News, with 20 earning recognition in the 2026 program. Nationally, only 21% of ASCs reviewed were recognized as “high performing” facilities.
Parkview has continued to invest in ASCs to provide a cost-saving alternative for patients needing routine outpatient surgery. Surgical procedures at ASCs generally cost less than those at an acute care hospital because of lower overhead costs, averaging about $684 in patient savings per procedure.
Parkview previously entered a joint venture with physicians at the Lake George Surgery Center in Steuben County and opened a new orthopedic ASC in Warsaw near Parkview Kosciusko Hospital.
“When patients need orthopedic care, they will always receive the highest levels of quality and safety at Parkview,” said Dr. Alan McGee, president, Parkview Health Orthopedics. “We’re committed to always continuing to find ways to increase access to care, improve patient experience and reduce cost for our patients.”
