Note: All applications (with the exception of Albright Gemlick) are open for these scholarships and will be accepted through April 1, 2026.

Helping train and educate the next generation of Parkview caregivers is an important part of our purpose. Through the generosity of donors, we are able to offer scholarships to Parkview co-workers and area students who are pursuing their nursing degrees or EMT certifications — helping ensure the excellence in care continues.

To apply for a scholarship, please sign in or create an account with the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne Scholarships online portal. Next, complete the “Parkview Foundation Universal Scholarship Application” to be automatically considered for any of the scholarships listed below.

Please note that all scholarship application links will direct you to the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne's log-in portal. Once on the portal, you will create a username and password to access the portal to apply for a scholarship. This will allow you to save an unfinished application. High school and college scholarships

Albright Gemlick Scholarship
About the scholarship

Beginning in 2003, the Albright Gemlick Scholarship has honored remarkable senior high school student athletes. Dr. James E. Albright was a driving force behind the establishment of the SportONE Athletic Training program in 1990. He was committed to the safety and care of student athletes, serving as a team physician for several local high schools and colleges. Dr. Brett F. Gemlick continued Dr. Albright's commitment to serving area athletic teams throughout his time as an orthopedic surgeon in Northeast Indiana.

Who can apply?

The Albright Gemlick Scholarship nominees are chosen by their athletic trainers with applications being accepted annually January through February.

Parkview LaGrange Hospital Scholarship
About the scholarship

The Parkview LaGrange Hospital Scholarship was established upon the recommendation of hospital volunteers as a way to give back to the community with the funds raised from the hospital’s gift shop and Parkview Health Foundation donors.

Who can apply?

The yearly scholarship is available to LaGrange County residents seeking a degree or licensure in a health-related field. Three high school senior scholarships are available as well as one adult scholarship.

Parkview Huntington Spirit of Service Scholarship
About the scholarship

The Parkview Huntington Spirit of Service Scholarship – This scholarship was initially funded by a portion of a legacy gift from the Parkview Huntington Hospital Guild, which ceased operations in 2018. Scholarships have been awarded annually since 2019. The scholarship is sustained by proceeds from operation of the Parkview Huntington Hospital gift shop.

Who can apply?

Huntington County students pursuing post-secondary education in a healthcare-related field of study at any accredited institution of higher learning or technical training, as well as students residing outside of Huntington County who are enrolled at Huntington University, are eligible to apply.

Applications are now open until April 1, 2026.

Karen Denney Nursing Scholarship
About the scholarship

Karen Denney was a caring and compassionate nurse, who dedicated her 35-year career to patients at McCray Hospital and Parkview Noble Hospital. During her career, Karen was the manager of the OB department for over 25 years, an infection control and employee health nurse, and worked in a number of other departments. She was an inspiration to many who worked with her, demonstrating an uncommon love for nursing and the patients she treated.

Who can apply?

The Denney Scholarship is open to high school seniors who are currently participating in the Health Occupations Education program at Parkview Noble and Parkview LaGrange Hospitals. Applications are accepted yearly January through February.

Parkview internal nursing and medical scholarships

Darlene J. Tielker Memorial Scholarship
About the scholarship

Darlene was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She decided on a nursing career very early on and began her work as a nurse while putting her husband through college and then medical school. Darlene embodied the word “nurse” throughout her life in the care and compassion she showed to her family, friends, patients, and all others she touched.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is available to all eligible Parkview co-workers pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must:

  • Be accepted into and planning to attend a BSN program that is nationally accredited through either the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Have at least two years of service with Parkview
  • Have an FTE status of 0.4 or higher
  • Be in good standing with no disciplinary action in the previous two years
  • Provide two recommendations, including one from a supervisor, co-worker or educator
  • Submit a one-page narrative on why you are seeking this scholarship and the benefit you will provide Parkview and its patients if you complete your BSN degree
  • Provide proof of financial need
Parkview Methodist School of Nursing Alumni Association Scholarship Fund
About the scholarship

The Parkview Methodist School of Nursing Alumni Association Scholarship Fund was created by alumnae of the Parkview School of Nursing for the purpose of encouraging and supporting nursing students.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is available to all eligible Parkview co-workers currently enrolled in an accredited BSN or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program. To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must:

  • Provide two professional recommendations
  • Provide a one-page narrative on why you are seeking this scholarship and the anticipated benefit to Parkview, its patients and community if you complete this program

Note: If you are applying for second-year funding, please provide proof of completing the first year with at least a “B” average or equivalent.

Sue Johnson Nursing Scholarship
About the scholarship

Before her retirement from Parkview Health, Sue Johnson served as the Director of Nursing Clinical Excellence & Research. Sue has a passion for education and believes in the power of generosity. Her gift to the Parkview Foundation established the Sue Johnson Nursing Scholarship.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is available to all eligible Parkview co-workers pursuing a BSN. To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must:

  • Be enrolled in a BSN program that is nationally accredited through either ACEN or CCNE
  • Have at least two years of service with Parkview
  • Have an FTE status of 0.4 or higher
  • Be in good standing with no disciplinary action in the previous two years
  • Provide one professional recommendation from a supervisor, co-worker or educator
  • Submit a one-page narrative on why you are seeking this scholarship and the benefit you will provide Parkview and its patients if you complete your BSN degree

Note: If you are applying for second-year funding, please provide proof of completing the first year with at least a “B” average or equivalent.

Jill Dreyer Nursing Scholarship
About the scholarship

The Jill Dreyer Scholarship was established in 2004 in memory of the late Jill Dreyer by those who had worked with her while she was a registered nurse at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is available to eligible full- or part-time Parkview Huntington Hospital co-workers who would like to advance professionally in the nursing field. To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must:

  • Provide a cover letter (with at least three paragraphs) detailing your short- and long-term goals in nursing, as well as your need for this assistance
  • Provide one professional letter of recommendation from a nursing leader that summarizes your qualifications for this award
Shirley Traster Nursing Scholarship
About the scholarship

Shirley Traster graduated from Fort Wayne Methodist School of Nursing in 1950. She was employed at McCray Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse for 36 years, before retiring in 1986. Shirley was highly regarded for her compassion, wisdom, humility and humor. She demonstrated her love of caring, compassionate nursing throughout her entire life, often mentoring or teaching younger nurses through her example and experiences.

Who can apply?

The scholarship will be available to all eligible Parkview Noble Hospital and Parkview Regional Medical Center co-workers who would like to advance professionally in the nursing field. To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited nursing program
  • Provide one professional recommendation from a supervisor or instructor
  • Submit a grade transcript from the most recently completed school year
  • Provide a one-page narrative detailing your short- and long-term goals in nursing
Darryl R. Smith Medical Technical Scholarship
About the scholarship

The Dr. Darryl R. Smith Medical Technical Scholarship was established in honor of Dr. Smith, former Medical Director of the Parkview Med-Tech program. The Med-Tech scholarship makes it possible for students to learn how to collect, prepare, test and analyze the results of several hundred laboratory tests. Their responsibilities as medical technicians are extremely important because the information they provide helps determine diagnoses and the best treatment plans for patients.

Who can apply?

The scholarship will provide two $1,000 awards at the beginning of the school year, distributed among recipients. One will be awarded to the incoming Parkview Med-Tech student with the highest grade point average (GPA) and one will be awarded to the Parkview Med-Tech student with the greatest financial need.

Leon J. Ribley Scholarship
About the scholarship

The Leon J. Ribley Scholarship is available as a result of a gift from former hospital board of trustee Leon J. Ribley.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is available to all eligible Parkview Wabash Hospital co-workers and/or co-worker dependents – such as spouses, unmarried children, stepchildren or adopted children under the age of 23 – pursuing a post-secondary program related to the healthcare field. To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must:

  • Be accepted into a post-secondary program related to the healthcare field
  • Have at least six months of service with Parkview or be an eligible co-worker dependent
  • Be in good standing with no disciplinary action in the previous two years
  • Submit a grade transcript from the most recently completed school year
  • Provide two professional recommendations: one from a supervisor, co-worker or educator, and the other from a teacher, employer, church or community leader, or mentor
  • Provide a one-page narrative on why you’re seeking this scholarship and the anticipated benefit to Parkview, its patients and community if you complete this program
  • Provide proof of enrollment, such as a letter of acceptance or class registration
Gloor-Hirschy Scholarship
About the scholarship

The Gloor-Hirschy scholarship fund was created in memory of Betty Hirschy who was an alumnus of the Parkview School of Nursing. The scholarship was established in 1988 with an endowment. As a nurse, Betty Hirschy cared for the total well-being of her patients and showed great compassion. The nurses that receive this scholarship will embody these same characteristics. This scholarship will provide a onetime $1,500 scholarship to two individuals.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is available to all eligible Parkview co-workers currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program in Indiana. To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must:

  • Provide two professional recommendations, one must be from a Parkview leader or co-worker
  • Submit a one-page narrative on why you are seeking this scholarship and the benefit you will provide Parkview and its patients if you complete your BSN degree
The Schultz Award
About the scholarship

Mr. George Schultz was a native of Whitley County who lived his final year in the hospital. It was during this period that he learned about the different healthcare degrees that are available to providers and how important it is for them to continue their educational endeavors. Mr. Schultz believed that by motivating healthcare providers to improve their educational standing, it would in turn help build their self-esteem and create a better community.

Who can apply?

The award is available to all eligible Parkview Whitley Hospital co-workers or volunteers pursuing a degree or continuing education as a nurse or in a medical-related field. To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must:

  • Be registered for classes funded by a recognized college, university or other accredited institution
  • Provide proof of enrollment, such as a letter of acceptance or class registration
  • Provide one professional recommendation from an immediate supervisor
  • Be in good standing with no disciplinary action in the previous two years

Note: If you are applying for second-year funding, please provide proof of completing the first year with at least a “B” average or equivalent.

Cathy E. Harris Good Samaritan Scholarship
About the scholarship

The Cathy E. Harris Good Samaritan Scholarship was established in honor of Cathy Harris, former Director of Parkview Samaritan. Before her retirement in 2013, Cathy devoted 24 years of service to Parkview’s Flight and Trauma program. Cathy played a key role in the growth, development, and vision of what the program is today.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is available to all eligible Parkview co-workers in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must:

  • Be accepted into and planning to attend an EMT, advanced EMT or paramedic program
  • Have at least one year of service with Parkview
  • Be in good standing with no disciplinary action in the previous two years
  • Provide one professional letter of recommendation from a supervisor, co-worker or educator
  • Provide a one-page narrative on why you’re seeking this scholarship and the anticipated benefit to Parkview, its patients and community if you complete this program
  • Provide proof of enrollment, such as a letter of acceptance or class registration
Sherry Snyder Memorial Scholarship
About the scholarship

The Sherry Snyder Memorial Scholarship was established from the generosity of an estate gift to honor the life of the late Sherry Snyder, who was enrolled in the Parkview School of Nursing but passed before completing her nursing degree.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is available to all eligible Parkview co-workers pursuing a BSN. To be considered for this scholarship, candidates must:

  • Be accepted into and planning to attend a BSN program that is nationally accredited through either the ACEN or CCNE
  • Provide two recommendations, including one from a supervisor, co-worker or educator
  • Submit a one-page narrative on why you are seeking this scholarship and the benefit you will provide Parkview and its patients if you complete your BSN degree

Note: If you are applying for second-year funding, please provide proof of completing the first year with at least a “B” average or equivalent.
