The vision for Parkview Kosciusko Hospital

Last Modified: January 12, 2024

Community, People of Parkview

As the communities in and around Kosciusko County have grown, so have the healthcare needs of the residents in the area, bringing a demand for broader services and larger facilities.

Scott Gabriel, market president, Parkview Health Northwest, explained that when Parkview Health opened Parkview Warsaw, the initial goal was to provide outpatient services and a freestanding emergency room. However, the volumes the organization anticipated seeing by year five were realized within the first year.

This meant revisiting the long-term plan for expansion in the Warsaw area. When the COVID pandemic hit, the health system paused new projects, including discussions around Kosciusko County, but the delay turned out to be a blessing in disguise. “We were able to reconsider the design,” Scott explained. “We refocused and came up with an even better design for our patients.”

The result is an efficient and naturally flowing facility with careful considerations around the needs of those who will utilize it most. Patients will have access to specialty services, including cancer treatment and surgery, as well as inpatient rooms.

“It was the right time for us to expand in this market,” Scott said. “For the people of this community, this facility means keeping healthcare close to home. It means that their loved ones can come see them without having to travel. The community has wanted this, and we’ve seen them traveling to take advantage of Parkview services, so the timing was right to make this part of their healthcare system.”
