Honoring Angela Chasey: A legacy of strength, compassion and care

Cancer, Generosity Heals

Angela Chasey

Angela “Angie” Chasey is remembered for her remarkable strength, compassion and the genuine care she showed to everyone around her. Her impact continues to be felt throughout the Parkview community—from her inspiring generosity through the Parkview Health Foundation to the ongoing difference made today through the fund established in her honor. Angie’s legacy lives on in the support offered to cancer patients and families who benefit from the integrative approaches she cared so deeply about.

In the five years she spent with the foundation as director of grants administration and of leadership giving, she inspired generosity and admiration in equal measure. When she later moved from the staff side to the patient side, she witnessed firsthand the impact of that work—and it strengthened her resolve to help others navigating cancer. That experience helped inspire the creation of the Angela Chasey Memorial Fund, ensuring future patients and families receive the kind of integrative support she valued.

Honoring Angela’s 60th birthday through her lasting impact

This year, Angie would be celebrating her 60th birthday - a milestone that invites both reflection and gratitude for the remarkable life she lived. While we miss her deeply, the compassion and strength she showed throughout her journey continue to inspire the integrative approaches carried forward in her name. Instead of marking this occasion with celebration alone, we honor her by recognizing the comfort, care and hope her legacy continues to provide to patients and families facing cancer today.

Angie believed that healing extends beyond the treatment room. The fund supports the Calm app and Mindfulness Based Cancer Recovery to help patients manage stress, build resilience, and feel more in control of their health alongside medical care. Calm delivers flexible, on demand tools; Mindfulness Based Cancer Recovery offers a structured, instructor-led curriculum. Together, they provide complementary pathways to whole person well-being.

Expanding wellness support through the Calm app

Thanks to the Angela Chasey Memorial Fund, patients and families receive free Calm app subscriptions—putting practical, whole person support at their fingertips. Calm helps with:

  • Better sleep with soothing sounds, sleep stories, and wind down routines
  • Managing stress and anxiety through guided mindfulness and breathing exercises
  • Quick relief via short, 5 minute sessions designed for busy days and long appointments
  • Family support, including kid friendly content to navigate big emotions
  • Learning from experts through Masterclasses focused on resilience and well being
  • Gentle movement and relaxation to ease tension in body and mind

To date, the fund has provided 159 Calm subscriptions, reflecting Angie’s belief in integrative approaches that care for mind, body and spirit alongside medical treatment.

Mindfulness Based Cancer Recovery

In alignment with Angie’s commitment to whole person care, the fund is also supporting Mindfulness Based Cancer Recovery, a nine-week program that teaches practical, evidence-based mindfulness skills to help reduce stress, strengthen emotional resilience, and support well-being during and after cancer treatment.

Participants learn mindfulness practices, body awareness, breathing techniques, meditation, gentle mindful movement, and sleep support strategies, while exploring the mind–body connection and how to apply these tools in daily life. The program is available to cancer patients and caregivers, with virtual and in-person options. It was piloted last summer and will begin again in April this year.

A tribute that continues to inspire hope

Angie approached her own cancer journey with strength, hope, and a desire to make life better for everyone around her. That ripple effect continues today.

Every subscription that brings rest on a hard night.

Every breathing exercise that eases worry before an appointment.

Every family that finds a moment of calm.

Every life touched by kindness.

These are the ways Angie continues to make a difference.
