Mike Eshbach will return to Northeast Indiana to coach the Concordia football team, the school announced on March 30.

“I decided to pursue the head football coaching position because I always remembered the friendships I made and the great kids I had the opportunity to coach when I was a young coach trying to get my feet wet," Eshbach said in a statement.

Eshbach was an assistant coach for the Cadets from 1995 to 1997. He comes back to Concordia after several other coaching stops along the way.

Eshbach was head coach at Wawasee for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.  Before that, he was head coach at Eastside from 2008 to 2016. He also served as an assistant coach at DeKalb, Paoli, New Haven and Bishop Dwenger. Eshbach also coached the semi-professional Classic City Crush based out of Auburn.

Eshbach is currently the assistant principal at Edison Junior-Senior high School in Lake Station, Indiana. He will be transitioning out of education and focus on expanding his family's personal business of breeding and training service dogs.

Eshbach replaces Tim Mannigel, who stepped down as head coach after 11 seasons. Mannigel stays on as Concordia athletic director.
