Concordia girls basketball coach Dave Miller retires

Dave Miller, the longtime local basketball coach with more than 400 career wins, is retiring from the Concordia Lutheran High School sidelines, the school announced Feb. 3.

"I was very blessed to have been able to coach so many quality young women," Miller said of his 31-year career. "They were quality basketball players, but more importantly as young christians, dedicated and loyal to teammates and coaches."

Concordia spent the last 18 seasons at with the Cadets, compiling a 299-135 record. Concordia won state championships in 2012 and 2012, one Summit Athletic Conference championship, seven sectional championships, four regional championships and two semi-state championships during that span. He also served as coach of the Indiana All-Stars in 2011.

“We are grateful to Dave for his many years of service to Concordia. He has taken the girls basketball program to tremendous heights and has become a leader for others to follow within our athletics program,” Athletic Director Tim Mannigel said.

Before coming to Concordia, Miller won 180 games in 13 seasons at Bellmont, winning several sectional titles. All-time, his 479 career was second among active girls basketball coaches and ranks 8th all-time among in Indiana girls basketball history.
