Angola's Gage King earns Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship

Angola High School senior Gage King has been named the Steuben County recipient of the 2021 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.

The scholarship is awarded by the Steuben County Community Foundation, and gives Gage a four-year full-tuition scholarship to an Indiana college of her choice and a $900 yearly sipend for books and equipment. Gage plans to study business and entrpreneurship, and has narrowed his college choices down to Purdue University, Butler University or DePauw University.

"I was relieved and really surprised," Gage said in a statement from the Steuben County Community Foundation. "Winning this means the world to me. It's exciting to know that I can stay in-state and close to home."

Gage is a three-sport athlete at Angola: playing football, basketball and baseball. Gage is also a member of student council and the National Honor Society.

Gage was one of six finalists for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship in Steuben County, and was selected through an application process that highlighted her community service, volunteerism, extracurricular activities, work experience, and leadership roles. Winners statewide were selected by the Independent Colleges of Indiana.
