LEO-CEDARVILLE, Ind. - Leo senior Alexa Allen entered the record book on Tuesday, becoming the state's all-time career hits leader in high school softball.
Allen, the lead off hitter for the Lady Lions, set the mark in the first inning, giving her 223 career hits.
Now, with every additional hit she adds to that IHSAA record.
Allen cites practice as her recipe for being high school's hit queen. She adds she he had no idea she was approaching the record until her mom told her a few weeks back. Ever since then, setting the record has become a personal goal, she says.
During her four years at Leo, the Lady Lions have won a 3A softball state championship in 2014 and finished as state runners-up in 2015.
