Spacemen add 7 more players

August 24, 2019

The Fort Wayne Spacemen have added a slew of new players, both local and international, as the inaugural season for the junior hockey team nears.

Logan Robins, Lucas Robins, Jack Huffman, Lance Giovenco, Toms Barens, Immy Johnson and Jimin Kim are all now part of the United States Premier Hockey League team, head coach Kaleigh Schrock announced. The Robinses and Huffman were introduced during a news conference at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse. Giovenco, Barens, Johnson and Kim will join them later.

The Robins brothers join the team after playing together at Leo and the Parkview Sports Medicine Force. This last season, Logan was with the Indy Fuel junior team.

Carroll producted Jack Huffman joins the Spacemen days after his brother, Trey, signed with the franchise.

Goaltender Lance Giovenco, of Kentucky, joins the Spacemen after playing for the Jersey Shore Whalers  in the USPHL last year.

Giovenco's Whalers teammate Tom Barens, of Latvia, will also suit up for the Spacemen.

Immy Johnson, of Minnesota, has been picked up by Fort Wayne after playing for the now-defunct Tri-City Icehawks last year.

Rounding out this group of signings is Jimin Kim, who most recently played in Czech Republic.

Head coach Kaleigh Schrock says more additions will come over the next few weeks, as the Spacemen try to fill their roster before the Sept. 14 inaugural game on the road.
