United States Roller Hockey Championships return to Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Summit City is once again hosting athletes from around the world, as the United States Roller Hockey Championships will be played over the next 2 weeks.

 

Nearly 300 teams from 22 U.S. states, 4 Canadian provinces and 11 other countries will compete from July 23 through August 5 at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.  Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry and officials with Visit Fort Wayne welcomed tournament host State Wars back to Fort Wayne during a ceremony Tuesday morning at the Icehouse.

Some 15,000 players, parents and tournament officials visiting Fort Wayne, making it the largest in-line roller hockey event in the nation, according to Visit Fort Wayne. The 14-day tournament expects to bring $3.7 million to the local economy.

This is the third time in 15 years that State Wars has brought United States Roller Hockey Championships have been played in Fort Wayne. Admission is free for the public, and a full schedule of games can be found here.
