Cancer Research in Your Community

For more than 30 years, Parkview Cancer Center has worked with the Parkview Research Center to conduct clinical trials that research new ways to treat cancer.

Clinical trials are scientific studies designed to find ways to improve our ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer.

Parkview Health’s dedication to providing access to cancer clinical trials means that local residents have opportunities to take part in new and emerging treatment and technology.

Research participation and your routine care

In 2009, the Indiana House of Representatives passed HB 1382 into law, requiring insurers of health plans to continue covering all routine care while an individual is participating in a clinical trial, as long as the trial meets certain criteria. The law requires that the clinical trial be approved by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or the U.S. Department of Defense. This law provides wide-spread security to those who are covered by state employee health plans, the Indiana Medicaid program, accident and sickness insurance and an HMO contract.

If you or someone you know is interested in participating in cancer research, contact a member of our team. For more information, call (260) 266-9100 and ask to speak to a clinical research coordinator. You may also e-mail oncology.research@parkview.com.
