Standard or Comprehensive Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Early-Stage Breast Cancer Previously Treated With Chemotherapy and Surgery

Purpose

For patients who have had a lumpectomy, this study compares whole breast radiation vs. whole breast radiation with nodal radiation. For patients who have had a mastectomy, this study compares chestwall radiation with nodal radiation vs. no radiation.

Eligibility:

This study is looking for patients diagnosed with breast cancer who had axillary nodal involvement at presentation and have had chemotherapy followed by surgery.

The purpose of this study is to compare axillary lymph node dissection with nodal radiation treatment vs. axillary and nodal radiation.

Eligibility:

This study is looking for patients diagnosed with breast cancer who had axillary nodal involvement at presentation and have had chemotherapy but have not yet had surgery.

A Randomized, Double-blind, Parallel Group, Placebo-controlled Multi-centre Phase III Study to Assess the Efficacy and Safety of Olaparib Versus Placebo as Adjuvant Treatment in Patients with Germline BRCA1/2 Mutations and High Risk HER2 Negative Primary Breast Cancer Who Have Completed Definitive Local Treatment and Neoadjuvant or Adjuvant Chemotherapy

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of Olaparib treatment vs. placebo in patients with BRCA1/2 mutations in women breast cancer.

Eligibility:

This study is looking for women who have HER2 negative breast cancer, , BRCA1/2 positive and has completed chemotherapy.

A Randomized Phase III Trial Evaluating the Role of Weight Loss in Adjuvant Treatment of Overweight and Obese Women With Early Breast Cancer

Purpose

This trial studies whether weight loss in overweight and obese women may prevent breast cancer from coming back. This study aims to test whether overweight or obese women who take part in a weight loss program after being diagnosed with breast cancer have a lower rate of cancer recurrence as compared to women who do not take part in the weight loss program. This study will help to show whether weight loss programs should be a part of breast cancer treatment.

Eligibility

This study is looking for female patients diagnosed with breast cancer within the past year, who have a BMI of 27 or greater, do not have diabetes, and are HER2 negative.

Fulvestrant and/or Anastrozole in Treating Postmenopausal Patients With Stage II-III Breast Cancer Undergoing Surgery

Purpose 

This trial is being conducted to determine whether neoadjuvant endocrine therapy with fulvestrant or the combination of anastrozole and fulvestrant, is better than anastrozole when given before surgery to shrink the cancer and stop it from growing.

Assessing the Accuracy of Tumor Biposies After Chemotherapy to Determine if Patients Can Avoid Breast Surgery.

Purpose

This trial studies how well biopsy of the breast after chemotherapy works in predicting pathologic response in patients with stage II-IIIA breast cancer undergoing breast conserving surgery. Tumor tissue collected from a biopsy before surgery may help to check if chemotherapy destroyed the breast cancer cells and may be compared to the tumor removed during surgery to check if they are the same.
