How Parkview deploys capital to deliver innovative technology and expanded access to rural communities
For Parkview, we are committed to ensuring communities continue to have access to high-quality healthcare close to home. When a local hospital joins our network, we invest in the people, services, and infrastructure needed to preserve local access to care and strengthen the hospital’s long-term future. We build on the hospital’s existing foundation to enhance local services and help ensure patients can continue receiving trusted, high-quality care in their own communities.
Rescuing vital infrastructure in Williams County
We expanded our northwest Ohio network in October 2023 by welcoming Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, including facilities in Archbold, Bryan and Montpelier. Local leadership chose Parkview specifically as a trusted partner to protect the local communities’ rural healthcare, advance their medical capabilities and maintain essential local resources.
“Acknowledging the challenges facing smaller health systems today, our leadership sought a trusted partner that shares our values and commitment to maintaining local, high-quality care,” said Chad Tinkel, president of Parkview Bryan Hospital. “Affiliating with Parkview allows us to continue serving northwest Ohio with exceptional care delivered by exceptional people.”
Bringing advanced cancer radiation and robotic surgery local
Honoring that trust, we immediately went to work to enhance their clinical capabilities, upgrade their technology and refine their overall operational processes.
For instance, since joining our system, we have heavily invested in Parkview Bryan Hospital to advance patient care. Within the first 24 months, Parkview Bryan Hospital added a linear accelerator for cancer radiation treatment and a da Vinci robotic surgery system for minimally invasive surgeries.
These significant technology upgrades allow patients to stay in their own community to receive specialty care. This positions the hospital as a trusted destination, not a stop on the way to another hospital far away. These advanced tools allow patients across Williams County and beyond to receive complex, reliable treatments close to home. Explore our technology upgrades here.
“Rural hospitals across the nation are facing increasingly large challenges, but our hospital has not only been able to maintain services but also grow our offerings to the northwest Ohio community,” said Chad Tinkel, market president, Parkview Health Ohio. “Beyond receiving high-quality care and an excellent experience at our hospital, our patients have access to the full support of the wider Parkview system and its many physicians, specialists and services.”
Earning national recognition for rural care quality
Our investments have already yielded national recognition. Within two years of joining our system, Parkview Bryan Hospital was named one of the nation's Top 20 rural and community hospitals. This third-party validation demonstrates that rural hospitals can thrive when supported with the resources and long-term commitment needed to succeed.
