How we’ve surpassed our five-year savings goals and extended long-term rate relief for our communities.
Affordability // Accountability
It is no secret that healthcare costs continue to rise across the nation. At Parkview Health, we have experienced that reality firsthand and remain fully committed to driving affordability across our state.
Exceeding our multi-year savings targets
In 2020, we set a bold target to provide over $1.1 billion in total rate reductions through 2025. We have successfully and significantly surpassed that goal. But we are not stopping there. Lowering healthcare costs is a long-term strategic commitment rather than a temporary initiative. As such, we have officially extended our rate-reduction commitments through 2029.
To ensure that our system locks in these savings for families, we have implemented a binding, decade-long contract with our largest commercial payer, Anthem.Reducing provider costs is only one part of the equation. As healthcare providers continue to lower costs and improve affordability, we believe similar transparency and accountability are needed across the broader healthcare ecosystem to ensure those savings are ultimately reflected in the premiums and out-of-pocket costs paid by individuals, families and businesses.
Independent state audits confirm our trajectory
Our progress speaks for itself and has been independently verified by state reports. Our commercial prices have been on a downward trajectory for three consecutive years according to The State of Indiana's state-mandated Milliman Hospital Price Benchmarking Analysis. Our rates decreased from 278% of Medicare in 2022 to 272% in 2023, and down to 262% of Medicare in 2024. This consistent decline positions our commercial rates 23 percentage points below the state’s statutory affordability benchmark.
Strategic investments in community-based care
We are investing in urgent care, ambulatory surgery centers, and other outpatient services to expand access and create a more sustainable healthcare system for the future. By offering more care in community-based settings when clinically appropriate, we can reduce reliance on hospital-based care, improve patient convenience, and support long-term affordability across the region.
Parkview’s commercial rates fell for three consecutive years according to an independent audit, dropping to 262% of Medicare in 2024.
This brings Parkview 23% below the state’s benchmark of 285%.
