A century-old Elkhart County institution becomes the newest chapter in a network built to preserve and strengthen community hospitals.
Affordability // Accountability
For more than 100 years, Goshen Health has been the anchor of healthcare in Elkhart County. Patients sought Goshen out, even as other choices emerged. Families built relationships with providers there across generations. It became one of northern Indiana’s most trusted regional healthcare destinations, drawing patients from surrounding communities and southern Michigan.
On October 1, 2026, Goshen Health officially joined Parkview Health.
The affiliation makes the newly named Parkview Goshen Hospital, a 105-bed acute care facility, part of a nonprofit network that now includes 16 hospitals and more than 300 Parkview Physicians Group locations across Indiana and northwest Ohio. Approximately 2,000 co-workers and providers become part of Parkview, and patients will continue to see the same care teams at the same locations, now backed by additional resources, technology and system-wide clinical expertise.
The move represents something larger than a single transaction. It is the newest example of a pattern that has defined Parkview’s approach to rural healthcare for the past decade. Community hospitals choosing affiliation as the path to preserve local care and secure long-term sustainability in a healthcare economy that has forced many independent rural hospitals to close.
“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for healthcare in Elkhart County and throughout the region,” said Dr. Ray Dusman, president of physician and clinical enterprise at Parkview Health. “Goshen Health has built an exceptional legacy of serving this community, and we are honored to welcome its co-workers, providers and patients to Parkview. Together, we will build on that strong foundation and invest in the future of local healthcare.”
“While our name is changing, our commitment to this community is not,” said Randy Christophel, president and CEO of Goshen Health. “Joining Parkview allows us to honor that legacy while creating new opportunities to strengthen healthcare close to home. Our patients will continue to see the familiar faces and experience the compassionate care they know and trust, now supported by the additional resources and expertise of Parkview Health.”
What affiliation actually delivers
The dominant national critique of healthcare consolidation is that smaller hospitals get squeezed after larger systems acquire them. Parkview’s approach has been different and the evidence is documented.
Within two years of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers of Ohio joining Parkview in October 2023, Parkview Bryan Hospital had added a linear accelerator for cancer radiation therapy and a da Vinci robotic surgery system, earned its first Leapfrog “A” Hospital Safety Grade, and been named one of the top 20 rural hospitals in the country by the National Rural Health Association. Williams County patients who previously drove an hour or more for cancer radiation and complex surgery could now receive that care locally.
That is the framework Goshen Health leadership evaluated when they chose Parkview as an affiliation partner. It is the same framework Logansport Memorial Hospital’s leadership evaluated when it joined Parkview in 2025. And it is the promise now extended to the patients of Elkhart County.
A commitment that grows
Goshen Center for Cancer Care, Goshen Heart and Vascular Center, and the Goshen Physicians network will continue to serve patients under the Parkview Health and Parkview Physicians Group umbrellas, with new opportunities for collaboration across the broader Parkview network.
Behind the scenes, integration teams will connect Parkview Goshen Hospital with system-wide specialty referrals, clinical research access, and continued investment in local infrastructure.
For the patients who have counted on Goshen Health for more than a century, and for the communities across Elkhart County and southern Michigan that have come to rely on it as a regional destination, that means something special. Access to more specialists without leaving home. Access to advanced technology as it becomes available. A stronger financial foundation supporting the same trusted care. The Goshen legacy is not being absorbed. It is being extended, resourced and built upon for another century of service.
