Parkview Ortho Hospital awarded Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification from The Joint Commission and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons

FORT WAYNE, IND. – NOV. 30, 2021 – Parkview Ortho Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

The certification, in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, focuses on every step of the hip and knee replacement process – from the pre-surgical orthopedic consultation to hospital or ambulatory surgical center admission, rehabilitation activities, and follow-up visits with the orthopedic surgeon.

Parkview Ortho Hospital, owned in partnership with Ortho NorthEast, underwent a rigorous on-site review earlier this year. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with related certification standards. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, as well as measurement experts and patients. The reviewers also conducted on-site observations and interviews.

“The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval is a testament to the world-class teamwork of the providers and co-workers at Parkview Ortho Hospital,” said Julie Fleck, chief operating officer, Parkview Ortho Hospital, Parkview Surgery ONE and Parkview Sports Medicine, and senior vice president, ortho service line. “A hip or knee replacement can improve both mobility and quality of life. Our subspecialized model creates patient-focused care from diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation.”

“Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification recognizes health care organizations committed to fostering continuous quality improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” said Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and chief nursing executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Parkview Ortho Hospital for using certification to reduce variation in its clinical processes and to strengthen its program structure and management framework for orthopedic patients.”
