Parkview Cancer Institute, TinCaps team up to honor cancer survivors

Fort Wayne, Ind. – June 20, 2019 – Cancer survivors and those currently battling cancer will be honored during a Fort Wayne TinCaps game Sunday, June 30, at Parkview Field.

Parkview Cancer Institute worked with the TinCaps to create this special event, which includes discounted tickets for survivors, recognition during the game, specially designed jerseys, cooling towels for the first 2,000 attendees and more.

On Friday, June 14, Johnny and other TinCaps representatives visited Parkview Cancer Institute to meet with patients and unveil the custom jersey that players will wear for the game. The jersey design is based on Parkview Cancer Institute’s 2019 T-shirt, which was created by cancer survivor Donna Packnett and features awareness ribbons for all types of cancer. Bob Lang, who designed the 2018 Parkview Cancer Institute T-shirt, will have the honor of throwing out the first pitch at the June 30 game, along with Parkview representatives.

This is the second year Parkview Cancer Institute has sold T-shirts designed by a cancer survivor to support the Transformative Cancer Care Fund. This special fund has been established through the Parkview Foundation to assist patients with care not traditionally covered by health insurance.

The TinCaps will be auctioning off the special jerseys through an online auction at TinCapsJersey.com.

Bids can be made now through the end of the sixth inning on June 30. Bidders do not need to be present at the game to win.

To receive $1 off each ticket for their entire party, cancer survivors can purchase tickets at TinCapsPCI.com
