FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Oct. 13, 2026 – Seven Parkview Health nurses were recognized this summer by The DAISY Foundation for extraordinary nursing.
The DAISY Foundation was founded in memory of Patrick Barnes, a 33-year-old man who spent eight weeks in a hospital being treated for an autoimmune disorder. During his stay, Barnes received excellent nursing care, and, in his memory, his family created The DAISY Award® to honor nurses who go above and beyond for their patients.
Recognized in 40 countries and territories, the Foundation has honored 220,000+ nurses across 6,500+ healthcare organizations and schools of nursing — with more than 2.5 million nominations submitted by patients, families and colleagues. The award not only recognizes nurses for exceptional care, but helps to inspire and engage co-workers, build team spirit and reinforce the importance of providing patient- and family-centered care.
Between July 1 and Sept. 30, the following seven nurses received DAISY awards. For their individual award stories and photos, follow the below links to The DAISY Foundation website:

“Hearing the positive impact I had in my patient's care during a difficult and scary situation makes the high-stress moments worth it,” Collins said. “I love my job and am so passionate about OB care, so being awarded for a job I love so much, there is nothing better.”
“The biggest motivation for me when delivering great care to the patients I serve is that I approach each patient as I would want my loved ones to be treated,” Stone said. “I believe compassion and empathy are two characteristics that nurses must possess. Our patients are vulnerable and we can make a difference in their lives.”
In total, 136 Parkview nurses have been honored with a DAISY award since 2021.
“Our DAISY honorees are shining examples of how nurses provide professional care with a personal touch,” said Juli Johnson, chief nursing and healthcare markets executive, Parkview Health. “Whether it’s chatting with patients and their families to build a connection, taking extra time to answer questions or explain something, or projecting calm during a stressful moment, the small things these nurses do by instinct make a big impact with their patients.”
