Family nurse practitioner welcoming patients at Bryan office

BRYAN, OHIO – May 27, 2025 – Ashley Hawkins, MSN, FNP-C, APRN-CNP, has joined Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) – Family Medicine in Bryan and is welcoming patients at the office, 442 W. High St., second floor.Ashley Hawkins

“Ashley’s experience in hospital medicine makes her an excellent healthcare ally for patients,” said Chad Tinkel, market president, Parkview Health Ohio. “From common colds to more challenging medical conditions, she is ready to help individuals and families as they navigate their health journeys. It’s wonderful to have her among our primary care providers in northwest Ohio.”

Hawkins is very familiar with the Bryan area, having served patients as a hospitalist nurse practitioner at Parkview Bryan Hospital. Prior to her move to Bryan, she worked as a registered nurse in the medical/surgical unit of a hospital in Toledo, Ohio.

As a nurse practitioner, she has cared for the complex needs of patients in acute care environments, evaluating test results, diagnosing, formulating treatment plans, and educating patients on treatment options and health behaviors.

Transitioning from practice in a hospital environment to a primary care office, Hawkins said she wants to be able to develop more enduring connections with her patients.

“With hospital medicine, there’s really not much in the way of continuity of care once a patient is discharged to home from the hospitalist service,” said Hawkins. “Occasionally, I would see former patients or their family members again in the hospital, but now I’m really looking forward to getting to know patients better over the longer term and developing that ongoing relationship with them as they move through life.”

Hawkins received her certification as a family nurse practitioner from the University of Toledo after earning her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the same institution. She pursued her undergraduate studies at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), Bowing Green, Ohio, earning a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications.

She is a member of the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses.

Patients should not be surprised if the weather is a topic of conversation during medical visits with Hawkins. After an early start in patient care as a nursing home aide, she decided to pursue a minor in broadcast meteorology during college and was active with BG24 News, a campus organization producing a news program for which she issued weather forecasts. But by graduation, Hawkins again felt her original calling to serve others as a caregiver, and she applied for admission to the nursing master’s program in Toledo.

Hawkins is pleased to remain in the Bryan area, serving the people of Williams and surrounding counties and interacting with physicians and other clinicians she has come to know.

“I worked alongside Dr. Jeff Schultz early in my career as a nurse practitioner, and I’m pleased to be joining him as part of the Family Medicine care team,” she said. “Primary care patients will find me a trustworthy caregiver who truly cares about them and takes the time to listen to their healthcare concerns.”

Outside of work, Hawkins enjoys flower gardening, playing acoustic guitar and supporting her teenage daughter and young son at their sporting events. The family’s goldendoodle, Indie, is a constant companion.
