Meet the Program Director

Scott S. Yen, MD, FACP

Thank you for your interest in the Parkview Health Transitional Year Residency Program! As a newly accredited program, we are thrilled to be recruiting for our inaugural TY Residency class starting in July 2023. We are honored that you are considering our program for a year of learning, growth, and camaraderie.

Our Transitional Year Residency is sponsored by Parkview’s Internal Medicine Residency program and is fully supported by the General Surgery program as well as by our many partners in Parkview’s Graduate Medical Education community.  Our tremendous resources, as well as our shared passion for teaching and commitment to a high standard of education and training will provide you with an exceptional multidisciplinary experience that will have you well prepared for the next step in your career.

We have developed our program to provide you with a strong, broad based clinical foundation, with rotations in inpatient internal medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, ambulatory care, general surgery, and ob/gyn. At the same time, we want you to have the flexibility to personalize your training with ample elective time, and the opportunity to explore research, and quality initiatives, and, if so desired, become involved in community service, advocacy and leadership. For didactics, you will predominantly participate in lecture/educational series alongside the categorical internal medicine residents, or general surgery residents, providing additional camaraderie and shared learning. We will also have an individualized educational program specific for the TY resident. Most of all, we will provide a supportive environment to help guide you towards clinical excellence, humanism, and leadership.

Parkview is situated in the growing community of Fort Wayne, Indiana, recognized by many real estate organizations as one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. I am delighted to have moved here and to bring my Program Director experience to Parkview. I am dedicated to bringing high-quality physicians that possess the passion to make a difference in this growing community, provide outstanding care to our patients, help us develop and grow our program, and at the same time joining me in exploring a new burgeoning metropolitan city. If that is your goal as well, I would love to see you join us!
