Dear Residency Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in the Parkview Health Internal Medicine Residency Program! We are honored that you are considering our program on your journey of life-long learning and service to others.

At Parkview, you will explore the depth and breadth of medicine and establish a solid foundation on which to build your future path. As a large health system that serves many culturally diverse communities, we have a full line of services treating a multitude of diseases, with subspecialty faculty eager to guide you with their expertise. Our knowledgeable and supportive core hospitalist and ambulatory faculty will facilitate your critical thinking as you develop a depth of knowledge through didactics, workshops and hands-on experience with quality, patient-centered care.

Our new, modern clinic was built specifically for resident physicians to train in ambulatory medicine, which will bring evidence-based care to a growing population. The Parkview Mirro Center for Research and Innovation will support resident physician teaching through simulation and research benefitting those in our community and beyond. Finally, leadership, administration and faculty look forward to providing a collaborative, challenging and enriching clinical experience for incoming resident physicians as we continue to build a truly outstanding residency program.

All these tremendous resources are situated in the growing community of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Recognized by Forbes.com as a “Small City (with a) Big Future,” the publication described Fort Wayne as an “art-filled, nature-forward, food-diverse example of savvy redevelopment poised to welcome the travelers of tomorrow.” With growth comes an increased need for physicians to live and work in the family-friendly environment, and our residency program aligns perfectly with this goal.

I lived and worked in Chicago for more than 25 years, leading a residency program there, and my decision to move to Fort Wayne and Parkview Health was an easy one. I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to join a warm, wonderful faculty and administration, be in a health system with tremendous resources and create a truly innovative, high-level residency program in a growing community. If you possess the passion to help patients achieve wellness while learning and contributing to the advancement in medicine, we would love to have you join us as we grow in our community together.
