Family Medicine

In 2011, April Wright was diagnosed with breast cancer. After multiple surgeries and radiation treatment failed to halt the spreading disease, she and her family arrived at the difficult decision that hospice care was the next step.

In this video, April’s husband, Terry, shares his memories of that time spent in the Supportive Care Unit at Parkview Hospital Randallia. Jennifer Schmidt, RN, CHPN, Kristen Brenneke, BSN, RN, CHPN, and Brooke Kinzer, BSN, RN, CMSRN, nursing services manager, offer their perspectives on the compassionate and patient-centered end-of-life care provided by their team of specially trained registered nurses and patient care techs.

As you’ll see, the unit provides personalized, holistic care for patients and their families during the final stages of life. It is a calm, peaceful and intimate setting for individuals to spend their last moments, surrounded by the ones they love.
