The vision for the Parkview Cancer Institute encompassed a number of objectives. Toward the top of the list were compassionate touches that would meet the needs of each patient throughout the highs and lows of their cancer journey. One important element of delivering this promise was the healing garden. Here, Megan Smith, vice president of practice operations, Parkview Cancer Institute, explains more.
The live, tropical plants thrive in the temperature-controlled space. While those in the infusion bays can look down into the garden, patients, guests and staff can settle into the smooth, curved wood benches and stare up at the awe-inspiring intricate sculptures. These extraordinary installations represent Parkview coming alongside patients to put our arms around them during their cancer battle as well as the healing power of water. The high ceilings and vast windows foster a feeling of freedom and possibility.
