It’s the last Saturday in September and the perfect opportunity to round up the entire crew to celebrate Family Health and Fitness Day. We invited Jessa Campbell, Marketing Assistant, Visit Fort Wayne, to offer a handful of suggestions for good get-up-and-get-going fun in the Fort Wayne area.

Hit the pavement – Bike ride to one of the great parks in Fort Wayne! For extra fun bring a Frisbee to toss around or a kickball for a family fun game.
If you don’t have a bike, rent one from the new Fort Wayne Bike Share or Fort Wayne Outfitters. Take a ride along the Rivergreenway trail, or have a tour of Fort Wayne and enjoy all of the beautiful public art.

Take a fun walk – We have around 86 parks and 56 playgrounds. Explore one of our beautiful parks like Foster Park, Eagle Marsh, Fox Island, or Lakeside park.

Explore Fort Wayne’s Riverfront – Grab your kayak, or rent a kayak or canoe at Fort Wayne Outfitters and take a tour of Fort Wayne’s Riverfront. Pick up a water trails map for all of the best places for a tour at the Fort Wayne Visitors Center or at Fort Wayne Outfitters.

Enjoy a fall afternoon at an orchard or farm – Fall is the perfect time for making a trip to the Apple Orchard or farm with your family. Pick some apples, search for the perfect pumpkin, or get lost in a corn maze at some of the great fall festivals, apple orchards, and pumpkin patches in Fort Wayne.

Get your heart rate pumping – Spend the afternoon with your family at The Ball Hive, Sky Zone, Lazer X, or UltraZone having a friendly family competition. Perfect indoor activities for your younger and older children! Or see if you can visit all 50 of the Sculpture with Purpose bike racks!
