Chihuly and Beyond: Contemporary Glass Sculpture at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art

Center for Healthy Living

We are bringing the Fort Wayne Museum of Art (FWMoA) to you virtually! FWMoA established in 1921, is the largest art museum within 90 miles of Fort Wayne. In their 100 years, they celebrate a growing collection of nearly 5,000 art objects. One of the most dynamic parts of this collection is its glass sculptures, including masterpieces by Dale Chihuly, Martin Blank and Bertil Vallien. Plan to join the museum’s CEO and Chief Curator, Charles Shepard for a behind-the-scenes peek into this fascinating collection of stunning works of glass sculpture.

Acrylic Painting: The Blue Heron

Do you know what it means if you see a blue heron? A blue heron symbolizes calmness, peace and a feeling of being present. They are a unique and beautiful symbol of balance. A blue heron also challenges you to look inside and nurture all aspects of yourself. Bring your calm and join us for an afternoon of acrylic painting with local artist Carl Mosher. In this painting, a blue heron is perched at the bow of an old wooden docked boat as he overlooks the coastal waters and watches in wait, the amazing sunset that glistens on the waters. Cool pastels will get you in the mood for a day at the ocean! All supplies are furnished for this class. This is for the beginner to intermediate painter.

Cost: $25

Registration is required. | Call 260-266-6500 or toll free at 844-835-0003.

Entering Intuitive Eating: 5 Sessions

Many of us have made our diet part of a new year's resolution with the best of intentions. Instead of starting a new diet, what if you could ditch dieting for good? Join Lydia Hall, RDN, LD, community outreach dietitian, Parkview Center for Healthy Living, starting in January for “Entering Intuitive Eating,” a book club where like-minded individuals can learn about a healthier and more sustainable way of feeding ourselves. Plan to meet in person once a month to explore “Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Anti-Diet Approach” a book by Registered Dietitians, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch. This book will be provided for each participant. The book club is a great way to meet others, and the monthly sessions allow you enough time in between to learn, reflect and practice the information in the book with accompanying activities and journal prompts.

Being part of the book club will benefit you by providing:

  • Judgement-free space to explore your relationship with food and your body.

  • Perspective on the cycle of dieting, and the tools to free yourself from chronic dieting.

  • Support to rediscover the pleasures of eating.

  • New compassion for bodies of any age, weight or stage of development.

Cost: $12 per person

Registration required. | Call 260-266-6500 or toll free at 844-835-0003.
