Being Mortal

Center for Healthy Living

Join Jeffrey Brown, MD, Parkview Physicians Group—Palliative Care, as he shares from the book, “Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End” by American surgeon, Atul Gawande. Oftentimes, medicine triumphs, however, when it comes to the inescapable realities of aging and even death, what medicine can do often runs counter to what it should. Being Mortal shows how the ultimate goal is not a good death but a good life – all the way to the very end. This is an important discussion and is appropriate for seniors, healthcare professionals, caregivers or families experiencing the journey of ALS, Alzheimer’s or cancer with a loved one.
