Breastfeeding Class

Maternity & Parenting, Support Groups

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding for the first 12 months of life. Taught by a certified lactation consultant, this one-time class is highly recommended if you are considering breastfeeding your baby. Partners are encouraged to attend. To help you prepare for breastfeeding, this class covers: 

• Benefits of breastfeeding for you and your baby 

• Correct positioning and latching 

• Pumping and storage of breast milk 

• Common concerns and questions

Offered on Mondays, from 6 to 8 p.m., in Wooten A and B conference rooms located in the lower level of Parkview Regional Medical Center.

Mom's Group

Mom’s Group is a support group where moms can go to have their baby weighed, have questions answered by a Parkview lactation consultant and RN, and interact with other moms. Mom’s Group also features crafts for moms to do with their children.

Postpartum Support: A Better Tomorrow via Microsoft Teams

Join Sarah Wolfe, BSN, RN, IBCLC, FCN, CPST, Parkview Whitley Hospital, or Alainna Martin, BSN, RN, Parkview Whitley Hospital, who are both trained by Postpartum Support International (PSI) to offer support to new moms and their significant others who are experiencing postpartum depression, anxiety during pregnancy or depression in general. Postpartum depression can last up to a year after the arrival of or loss of your baby. Please know you are not alone, and you are not to blame. By acknowledging you might be experiencing baby blues or postpartum depression, with a little help, you can get back to feeling like yourself again. A Zoom link will be sent to your email once you have registered.

Breastfeeding Support Group - Parkview Regional Medical Center (Tuesdays)

This group meets every Tuesday evening (7-8 pm) in the Family Birthing Center conference room, and Friday morning (9-10 am) at Entrance 4 in the third-floor conference room. Excluding holidays.

This is a drop-in group, no appointment needed (Mom and baby preferred).   Lactation consultants are available to help with breast feeding needs, weight-based feeding assessment and pumping concerns.
