Homemade Baby Food

Center for Healthy Living, Maternity & Parenting Classes

Baby food can be easy, nutritious, and affordable to make at home! This interactive class, led by Crystal Ruisard, MHS, RDN, LD, community outreach dietitian, Parkview Center for Healthy Living, will cover: 

  • Signs that your baby is ready for solids 
  • How to safely prepare and store homemade baby food 
  • Ways to introduce a variety of flavors, textures, and nutrients during the first year of life 

Participants will take home their prepared baby food and receive a baby food bowl set. This program requires at least 3 participants and allows up to 6.    

Cost: $20

Healthy Popsicle Workshop

Turn fresh fruits and simple ingredients into refreshing (and easy!) homemade popsicles. Crystal Ruisard, MHS, RDN, LD, community outreach dietitian, Parkview Center for Healthy Living, will share a wealth of nutrition education as families explore colorful produce and mixing flavors to whip up cool creations. Participants will receive a popsicle kit and recipes to take home. This program requires at least 10 participants and allows up to 20.

MOMS on the Move: Maternal Fitness

This group fitness class is designed for pregnant and postpartum mothers at all stages of pregnancy and recovery. Classes focus on safe, effective movement that supports the changing body while building strength, mobility, endurance, and confidence. Each week features a rotating focus, including core stability and mobility, aerobic conditioning, strength training, and yoga-inspired movement, with all exercises fully adaptable to individual needs and experience levels.

Thanks to a grant from Parkview Kosciusko Hospital, this program is free for both members and non-members. Free childcare is also provided for all participants only for the 1 hour of class. Children ages six weeks to four years old may attend the Lily Pad Play Center & Café, a safe and engaging space featuring imaginative play areas, sensory toys, and cozy reading corners, all supervised by trained YMCA staff. If you plan to drop your child off before attending class, please arrive 15 minutes before class to do so. If you have any questions regarding the Lilly Pad Play center feel free to contact Ashlee Parker at aparker@kcymca.org.

In addition, the YMCA is proud to partner with B.A.B.E Boutique, each mom will receive one coupon for every class attended as a special thank-you for participation.
