Watch the video: The Athlete's Mindset: I didn't make the cut
I want to talk about something that's tough for any athlete, not making the team, and how you can overcome this adversity and use it as a steppingstone in your athletic journey.
Step 1: First, it's okay to feel disappointed, upset or even embarrassed, but remember, not making the team doesn't define your worth as an athlete or as a person.
Step 2: When you're ready to move forward, figure out exactly where you need to improve. Then create a training plan that helps you improve in these specific areas. Break your plan down into manageable steps and work on them consistently.
Step 3: Finally, instead of seeing the setback as a failure, view it as an opportunity to come back even stronger. Stay positive and surround yourself with supportive people, teammates, friends and family who believe in you and encourage you to keep pushing forward.
Not making the team is tough, but remember, it's just one moment in your journey, not the end of it. Remember, every setback is a setup for a comeback.
