The Parkview Youth Well-being team created a series of healthy habits, simple to apply to everyday life. In this video, Michele Schnelker, youth well-being coach, convinces us to get up and get moving.

We should all be getting 1 hour of physical activity every single day. Maybe you like to play outside during recess or ride your bike or go for a walk with your family or play sports at school or after school. All of that is included with physical activity.

This 1 hour doesn't have to be done all at once. It can be broken up into 5 or 10-minute chunks of time. For example, how long is your recess? That counts toward your 1 hour of physical activity a day.

Why is moving for an hour a day a healthy habit? Not only is it great for our bodies, like our muscles and our joints, but it is also good for our brains. When we get the blood moving through our bodies, that also goes through the brain and wakes us up. That makes it easier for us to learn new information and to keep information in our memory.

How can we keep being physically active? Think of indoor and outdoor activities that can help you reach your goal.
