Parkview Health named one of America’s Best Employers by Forbes magazine

Forbes recognizes Parkview for its commitment to employees and culture

FORT WAYNE, IND. (April 17, 2019) – Parkview Health has again been named one of America’s Best Employers by Forbes magazine. The America’s Best Employers in 2019 list ranks the top 500 employers across 25 industries. Parkview Health was ranked No. 171 overall and No. 16 in the healthcare and social services industry, which is capped at 25 organizations. To compile the list, Forbes conducted an independent and anonymous online survey of approximately 50,000 employees at companies with at least 1,000 employees in their U.S. operations.

“At Parkview, culture isn’t something we simply talk about – it’s something we can feel. Our care and compassion for others extends not only to our patients, but also to our co-workers,” said Mike Packnett, president and CEO, Parkview Health. “It’s an honor to be included among America’s best, and we are committed to continue fostering a workplace where people feel valued, engaged and inspired to serve others.”

Parkview Health was the only organization in Indiana to be named to the list for the healthcare and social services industry. Parkview was ranked third-highest in the state, following Lilly at No. 3 (drugs and biotechnology industry) and Cook Medical at No. 48 (healthcare equipment and services industry).

Evaluations were based on two distinct criteria:

  1. Direct recommendations: Employees were asked their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family. The responses were analyzed on a scale from 0 to 10, where 0 means “I wouldn’t recommend my employer under any circumstances” and 10 means “I would definitely recommend my employer.”
  2. Indirect recommendations: Participants were also prompted to evaluate other employers in their respective industries that stood out either positively or negatively.

Furthermore, employees were asked to give their opinions on a series of statements surrounding work-related topics, such as working conditions, salary, potential for development and company image. The rate of agreement/disagreement regarding the statements was measured on a five-point Likert scale.

“We are incredibly humbled that more than 12,000 co-workers have chosen a career with Parkview. It’s even more rewarding to know that this recognition includes feedback from people outside of our organization,” said Dena Jacquay, chief community and human resources officer, Parkview Health. “This is a demonstration of the world-class teamwork not only among our co-workers, but also with our partners in the communities we serve.”
