Well-being Support Services

Freedom from Smoking (Allen County)
Parkview offers Freedom from Smoking®, a program developed by the American Lung Association® to help you quit smoking. Call Natalie McLaughlin at (260) 705-4244 for class dates, times and locations.

Tobacco Cessation Classes (Noble County)
Parkview Noble Health and Wellness Center

These classes are offered throughout the year to help people stop smoking. The classes meet eight times over a seven-week period and offer several benefits, such as:

  • Decreasing your risk of developing cancer or emphysema

  • Decreasing your risk of developing heart disease

  • Lowering your blood pressure

  • Developing fewer respiratory infections

  • Saving money

Parkview Whitley Hospital Nicotine Independence Program (Whitley County)

This intensive one-on-one counseling program can help you break the addiction to nicotine. During your first visit, a respiratory therapist will review your health and smoking history. We will discuss your readiness to quit and work with you to develop a plan of care and action plan to break your addiction. Subsequent visits will provide you with the skills and assistance necessary to be successful with the least amount of withdrawal symptoms possible. Call (260) 248-9515 for class dates and times.

Diabetes Support Group (Huntington County)

Parkview Huntington Hospital offers a free support group for individuals who have diabetes to help them manage their disease. A diabetes educator provides information on a variety of topics. Call (800) 533-2252 for more information.

Diabetes Support Group (LaGrange County)

This free support group offers a forum for individuals who have diabetes to share information on a wide range of topics related to living with diabetes. Managing Chronic Pain (Huntington County)

Grief Support Services

Healing Hearts

The grief and pain that comes from losing a baby at any stage is very personal, yet other parents are experiencing this pain too. If you have experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or death after birth, this supportive group may help you in the healing process. Parkview Chaplaincy has an experienced facilitator who can help you as you go through the grieving process. Sharing with other parents and families can help you make sense of this unbearable loss and, hopefully, lead you toward peace and healing. Understanding Your Grief
Understanding Your Grief is a 10-week program, providing guidance for patients and caregivers of family members who are experiencing a multitude of feelings from illness or loss of a loved one. Experts will guide group members in a discussion of emotional responses to illness and death and how to cope. For more information, or to register, call (800) 292-9894.

Cancer Support Services

Better Than Ever
Better Than Ever is a system of support and education created for women who have completed treatment for pelvic and gynecologic cancers and are experiencing difficulties or barriers to intimacy and sexuality. The group consists of three gatherings that are physician- directed and led by a nurse practitioner. Better Than Ever is designed to be informative and encouraging. This educational and supportive group is open to those who are experiencing primary or secondary lymphedema. While the support group is ongoing for wherever you’re at with your needs, it follows the guidelines of the National Lymphedema Network.
