Women's Health

Preparation will help you have a confident, personally satisfying birthing experience. Our recently restructured classes are designed to help you and your partner explore the physical, emotional and social aspects of birth. If you attend prenatal or parenting classes at Parkview Noble Hospital, you will receive a coupon for Beds and Britches, Etc. (B.A.B.E.), a community-based incentive program that provides new clothing and supplies for parents with children ages newborn through five. Coupons may be redeemed for baby supplies or clothing at B.A.B.E., 201 S. Park Ave., Kendallville or 202 S. Cavin St., Ligonier. Preparing for Childbirth

Partners are encouraged to attend. To help you prepare for childbirth, this class covers the following:

  • Process of labor and birth
  • Relaxation and breathing techniques
  • Pain management options
  • Physical and emotional changes

Offered from 9 – 11 a.m. at Parkview Noble Hospital on the following dates:

Basic and Beyond Parenting

This class is designed to help you feel more confident by teaching you basic parenting skills and more. Partners are encouraged to attend this class, which covers topics such as:

  • Infant care skills
  • Calming a crying baby
  • Protecting your child
  • Choosing a care provider
  • Understanding infant sleep patterns
  • Breastfeeding skills and bottle-feeding
  • Car seat safety

The American Heart Association® Family & Friends® Infant and Child CPR and relief from choking course will be taught.

One-session weekend option

Offered on Saturdays from 8 a.m. - noon on the following dates:

One-session weeknight option offered on Wednesdays

Offered on Mondays from 5 - 9 p.m. on the following dates:

Breastfeeding Class

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding for the first 12 months of life. Taught by a certified lactation consultant, this one-time class is highly recommended if you are considering breastfeeding your baby. Partners are encouraged to attend. This class covers:

  • Benefits of breastfeeding
  • Correct positioning and latching
  • Pumping and storing breast milk
  • Common concerns and questions

Wednesday classes

Offered from 5 - 6 p.m. on the following dates:

Safe Sleep Class

This 60-minute class provides education for safe sleep practices. Safety-approved cribs are available for parents who qualify.

Wednesday classes

Offered from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of every month in the Hunter Room at Parkview Noble Hospital.


Sibling Class

This interactive class allows kids to learn what a new baby looks like, how to become a “big helper,” and how to make friends with the new baby. Children get to tour the Family Birthing Center so they can see where Mommy will be when little brother or sister is born.

Offered from 6 – 7 p.m. at Parkview Noble Hospital on the following dates:

Breastfeeding Support Group

Our certified lactation staff will give you support, answer your questions and encourage new moms who are breastfeeding.
