Cardiac Rehab FAQs

Cardiac Rehab FAQs

How do I get into a cardiac rehabilitation program?

Your doctor will refer you into the program and you will have a low-level treadmill test before you begin treatment.

What time commitment is needed for the program?

The program requires your participation three to four days per week for four to 12 weeks.

Will my insurance cover the cost?

Most private insurance programs will cover four to 12 weeks and Medicare/Medicaid will cover 80 percent of the cost for three days per week for 12 weeks. For your convenience, one of the staff will verify coverage with your insurance company before you begin cardiac rehab.

Why do I have to come to cardiac rehabilitation when I can exercise on my own?

It is extremely important to be monitored during your exercise sessions following a cardiac event such as a heart attack or heart surgery. For the health of your heart, the staff will monitor your EKG rhythm, heart rate and blood pressure as well as any signs and symptoms. The rehab team will also answer any questions that you may have.
