BridgeWays

Mental disorders do not have to be part of aging. When an older adult shows signs of mental illness or impairment, a family member may need to seek help for their loved one. Parkview BridgeWays provides help, hope and healing for all patients.

Parkview BridgeWays is the home of Parkview Behavioral Health’s geriatric inpatient treatment center. Located on the third floor of Parkview Hospital Randallia, this new facility offers inpatient treatment suited to the needs of older adults. Until now, these services have been offered at Parkview Behavioral Health at the Beacon Street location.

Amenities

Parkview BridgeWays is handicapped-accessible and provides 20 private rooms with specialized services for patients including 24-hour intensive inpatient treatment, adaptive equipment for patients with unique needs and secure accomodations for patients suffering the effects of dementia.

BridgeWays also offers:

  • A relaxation room

  • On-site family support groups

  • Access to group exercise and other activities

  • Overnight accommodations available for patient families

  • An excellent location within a medical surgical hospital, Parkview Hospital Randallia, with access to medical specialists when needed

Expert care

Experts in geriatric psychiatry direct the care of seniors with a focused attention on the medical, nutritional and mental health issues faced by each patient. Patients also receive daily therapeutic services individualized to their psychiatric and physical needs and participate in group exercise and other activities.

Our mental health team of physicians, therapists, nurses and technicians help our patients cope with:

  • Memory loss

  • Depression

  • Confusion

  • Grief

  • Anxiety and fear

  • Withdrawal from others

  • Difficulty adjusting to a new environment

  • Thoughts of no longer wanting to live

  • Strange or grandiose ideas

As with services for youngsters and adults, family involvement in treatment, discharge planning and aftercare is extremely important. Before a patient leaves the facility, staff members educate your family members/caregivers on available community resources, as well as arrange for referrals to local home health, assisted living or nursing home services.
