About the Stanley Wissman Stroke Center

The Parkview Stanley Wissman Stroke Center provides top-quality stroke care and rehabilitation at Parkview Regional Medical Center and Parkview Hospital Randallia, both located in Fort Wayne, Ind. In 2005 the center earned the distinction of becoming the region’s first Joint Commission certified primary stroke center and has earned re-certification every two years since. The center excels in stroke treatment and prevention by combining:

  • Outstanding medical expertise
  • Interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Patient and family-focused care
  • World-class technology
  • Participation in national stroke research
  • Community health education

The center is named for the late Stanley Wissman, MD, a widely respected Fort Wayne neurologist who championed the idea that stroke patients should not have to suffer the devastating effects of this condition.  Under the current leadership of Medical Director Fen-Lei Chang, MD, PhD, the center continues to build on Dr. Wissman’s approach by combining state-of-the-art imaging, an intensive care unit staffed with nurses certified in the care of patients with neurological conditions, and the expertise provided by area neurologists to bring the highest-quality lifesaving treatments to stroke patients.
