​Summer Internship Program

The Parkview Summer Internship Program is a paid summer internship opportunity for college students interested in non-clinical areas of healthcare. 

This program offers students opportunities to become engaged in the mission, processes and culture of Parkview Health. Additionally, interns will learn healthcare industry best practices and gain skills/competencies through projects and organizational activities, while advancing their professional development. 

The program lasts 10 weeks. Students will be expected to work 40 hours a week. Qualifications will vary, depending on the department offering the internship. 

Application Process 

Interested applicants can apply online by searching the current job listings page. All open, non-clinical Intern positions are posted mid-December through mid-January. 

 All internship opportunities will require a written essay answering the following questions. The essays should be sent to jobs@parkview.com.

  •  Please explain how participating in the Parkview Summer Internship Program and working with the department you have selected fits with your academic and/or career goals.
  •  After researching the organization, please explain specific skills, knowledge, classes you have taken and/or experience you have that would make you a qualified intern for Parkview.
  • Explain one situation in which, because you took initiative, the outcome of your effort was a success.

Other Internships and externships for college-age students

Internships and externships are school-sponsored learning experiences that pair students with Parkview professionals to learn more about an identified field of study.

  • College student internships and externships may last a semester or more.

  • 40 − 200 hours may be provided to satisfy course requirements.

  • Longer internship options may be considered, depending on school requirements.

Requirements

  • Participants must be part of an approved school program affiliated with Parkview.

  • College-level internships must have an affiliation agreement in place between the school and Parkview.

  • Students must follow the established learning goals and objectives.

  • Internship and externship experiences must be unpaid in exchange for greater learning benefit to the student. Most internships are awarded course credits at completion.

  • Completed student required reading and forms.

  • “Independent” internships that are not connected to a school program may not be permitted. Please contact us for more information.

  • Internships/externships must be coordinated in partnership with school faculty.

  • Upon approval by the Student Services Department, a confirmation e-mail message will be sent to the participant.

Requesting an internship or externship placement

Please complete the following forms and submit them to Parkview Student Services.

Completed Student Passport forms are due prior to or on your first day at Parkview. Forms will be collected by designated Parkview representatives. Students will not be permitted to proceed with learning experiences until completed Passport forms are submitted. If you are preparing for a student learning experience in multiple departments, please complete a separate Passport form for each location.
