Weight Management Services
Each decade brings new diet and exercise trends on the horizon. Yet millions of Americans still struggle with maintaining a healthy body weight. In fact, an estimated 64 percent of U.S. adults are either overweight or obese, according to results of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 1999–2000. Childhood obesity is on the rise as well with 16 percent of children and adolescents, ages 6-19, considered overweight.
With poor eating habits and little or no physical exercise, adults and children are gaining weight at an alarming rate, which leads to increased risks of developing chronic diseases such as Type II diabetes and hypertension.
Parkview’s two weight management programs are designed to help adults and children reach and maintain a healthy weight through nutritional counseling, physical exercise instruction, behavior modification and ongoing support.
