As part of a six-month evaluation process, Parkview Hospital has earned the designation as a Spirit of Women Premier Hospital by meeting or exceeding at least 80 percent of the national standards. Parkview Hospital earned an overall score of 93 percent. The standards were developed by Spirit of Women Health Network in cooperation with the Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women's Health. The standards serve as a set of performance measurements for commitment to clinical excellence in women's healthcare and community outreach.

The award distinguishes hospitals that are using Picis solutions to improve clinical, financial and operational performance in the emergency department (ED), operating room (OR) or intensive care units (ICUs). Parkview was commended for using Picis to improve patient care results. Parkview experienced a 47% decrease in nursing documentation time following implementation of workflow modifications using Picis Critical Care Manager for our 56 adult critical care beds at the Parkview Hospital. Subsequently, this workflow has also been adopted at Parkview hospitals. This decrease in documentation time has helped to redirect staff to patient care activities and provided significant cost savings — estimated at $465,000 annually. In addition, Parkview Health reported improved continuity of care and increased core measure compliance by 25%.

The award identifies hospitals which healthcare consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image in over 250 markets in the country. Award winners were announced in Modern Healthcare magazine.
Winners were selected based on NRC’s Healthcare Market Guide study of more than 200,000 households. The award is based on best overall quality, best doctors, best nurses, and best image and reputation.
This is the 13th time that Parkview Hospital has received a Consumer Choice Award.
