Parkview LaGrange Hospital is the only general acute care hospital in northeast Indiana to have been ranked as a 2012 top quartile performer by iVantage Hospital Strength Indices (HSI) for excellence in quality and patient satisfaction. HSI is the first rating system in the country to include rural as well as urban healthcare providers in its database of 4,441 hospitals. This data-based system uses 56 measures of performance to rate market strength, value-based strength and financial strength and will be used nationwide as a tool for benchmarking and setting goals under health reform. Integrated Community Nursing Program
Parkview Health’s Integrated Community Nursing Program was one of five programs nationally to receive the American Hospital Association (AHA) NOVA Award. Established in 1993, the AHA NOVA Award recognizes hospitals and health systems for their collaborative efforts toward improving community health.
The program provides responsive, comprehensive and accessible healthcare options to the most disadvantaged residents in communities in northeast Indiana.
The program is seeing results, including these important achievements:
- Emergency room visits and hospitalizations for asthma patients have decreased.
- More than 30,000 students have been vaccinated against influenza.
- Nearly 8,000 students each year receive vision screenings.
- Over the past two years, more than 1,100 safety-approved cribs have been given to parents who otherwise might not have been able to afford them.
- Among families in which the parents participated in a safe-sleep education program, no infant deaths have occurred due to unsafe sleeping practices.

Parkview Ortho Hospital has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as being one of 60 hospitals in the nation offering Great Ortho Programs. Becker’s Hospital Review features up-to-date business news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems.
The recognition identifies hospitals that exhibit excellence in orthopedics, quality of service, outstanding local and national reputations and high volume of orthopedic cases. The publication publicly solicited recommendations from industry experts, and each hospital underwent substantial review.

As part of a six-month evaluation process, Parkview Hospital has earned the designation as a Spirit of Women Premier Hospital by meeting or exceeding at least 80 percent of the national standards. Parkview Hospital earned an overall score of 93 percent. The standards were developed by Spirit of Women Health Network in cooperation with the Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women's Health. The standards serve as a set of performance measurements for commitment to clinical excellence in women's healthcare and community outreach.
Picis 2009 Consumer Recognition Award

Picis
The award distinguishes hospitals that are using Picis solutions to improve clinical, financial and operational performance in the emergency department (ED), operating room (OR) or intensive care units (ICUs). Parkview was commended for using Picis to improve patient care results. Parkview experienced a 47% decrease in nursing documentation time following implementation of workflow modifications using Picis Critical Care Manager for our 56 adult critical care beds at the Parkview Hospital. Subsequently, this workflow has also been adopted at Parkview hospitals. This decrease in documentation time has helped to redirect staff to patient care activities and provided significant cost savings — estimated at $465,000 annually. In addition, Parkview Health reported improved continuity of care and increased core measure compliance by 25%.
