Condition Help program
We consider patient family members to be our partners in care. If you are a family member, we encourage you to seek assistance from the nursing staff with any concerns. To empower you to advocate on the patient's behalf, we have implemented the Condition Help program.
If you believe that the patient's medical condition is getting worse and the healthcare team is not present, do not hesitate to:
- Dial 1-911 on any phone
- Say "Condition Help"
- Tell the operator the patient's name and room number
A rapid response nurse, a respiratory nurse or a nursing supervisor will respond quickly to assess the situation and determine whether the attending physician or hospitalist should be called.
Safety and Security
Please keep these guidelines in mind to make your stay with us as safe and secure as possible:
- Keep personal belongings to a minimum and leave valuables (jewelry, credit cards and cash amounts greater than $10) at home.
- Weapons are not permitted in the hospital.
- Give any medications you bring with you to your nurse for safekeeping. You may also send the medications home with a family member/friend.
- To facilitate proper treatment and medication, do not remove your identification bracelet.
- Always wear footwear when out of bed.
- Leave personal articles (curling irons, hair dryers, radios, etc.) at home, if possible, to avoid fire hazards and interference with medical equipment.
Chaplaincy
A chaplain is available to visit with patients and/or family members Monday through Friday. To request a visit, please ask your nurse to leave a message for the chaplain.
The hospital chapel is located on the main floor beyond the information desk in the Parkview North lobby. It is open for personal use at all times. A resource room connected to the chapel offers reading materials.
Prayer request cards are available near the chapel and in the Emergency Care lounge area. Each prayer request is kept confidential and will be remembered by Chaplaincy staff during the week following its submission.
Other reading materials may be requested from the chaplain.
Communion is available by request. Catholic Sacraments of the Sick, Eucharist and Reconciliation are available by paging the chaplain.
