Parkview North Hospital

Patient Discharge and Payment Information

Leaving the hospital
When you are ready to leave the hospital:

  • Your physician will write a discharge order on your chart.
  • Your physician or nurse will discuss your release with you.
  • Once you receive your discharge instructions, you will be released from the hospital.

Discharge Planning
When you are ready to leave the hospital, the nursing staff and a case manager or social worker will assist you with discharge plans. These plans start with information collected on admission and are evaluated for you by nursing staff, your physician and case manager or social worker throughout your hospital stay. If you have concerns regarding your discharge plans, contact your physician, nurse, case manager or social worker. If post-hospital care is needed, a registered nurse case manager or social worker can assist in making arrangements.

Paying your bill
Patients are asked to pay for services not covered by insurance either before or at the time of service. Payment may be made by cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover.

We will verify insurance benefits with your insurance carrier in advance or within 24 hours of admission. Co-insurance, deductibles and fees for other services not covered must be paid either before or at the time of service. Although we bill your insurance company, you are ultimately responsible for your healthcare charges.

Medicaid
Medicaid may pay all or a portion of your hospital charges, depending on the type of coverage and charge. Be sure we have your valid Medicaid card number so we may bill Medicaid directly.

Medicare
Medicare may pay all or a portion of your hospital charges, depending on your type of coverage and the charge. So that we may bill Medicare directly, we will ask you to fill out and sign the appropriate forms at the time of admission, noting your Medicare supplemental insurance policy or secondary insurance companies.

Private pay
Patients who do not have medical insurance will be visited by a member of the business office to arrange payment for services. If you need financial assistance in paying your bill, contact Patient Accounting for eligibility requirements. We can discuss other payment options if you are unable to pay your bill either before or at the time of service.

If you have questions about your hospital account, insurance coverage or billing, contact Patient Accounting at (260) 373-7700, or ext. 37700 from a Parkview phone.

Your opinion counts
Our goal is to provide every patient with excellent service. After your discharge from Parkview North Hospital, you may receive a telephone call from an outside survey firm (Professional Research Consultants) asking you about your visit.

Please take the time to speak with the representative. Your comments are confidential, and the survey responses will be used to evaluate and continue to improve the services we offer to our patients.
