Mail
You can receive mail during your hospital stay. Please tell family members and friends to address your mail in the same name in which you are registered, not with a nickname or your spouse’s name. After you leave Parkview, your mail will be forwarded to the address given to us at the time of registration.

Newspapers
Local newspapers are sold daily in patient rooms as well as in the gift shop.

Condition Help
We consider patient family members to be our partners in care. If you are a family member, we encourage you to seek assistance from the nursing staff with any concerns. To empower you to advocate on the patient's behalf, we have implemented the Condition Help program.

If you believe that the patient's medical condition is getting worse and the healthcare team is not present, do not hesitate to:

  • Dial 1-911 on any phone.
  • Say "Condition Help."
  • Tell the operator the patient's name and room number.

A rapid response nurse, a respiratory nurse or a nursing supervisor will respond quickly to assess the situation and determine whether the attending physician or hospitalist should be called.

Chaplaincy
Chaplains are available to serve patients and their family members on a 24-hour basis. If you wish to talk with a chaplain, ask the nurse to contact the chaplain.

The hospital chapel, located on the second floor above the main lobby, is open for personal use at any time.

Services in the hospital chapel are:
Regular services, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Catholic Mass, Thursdays at noon
Sunday services, 10:30 a.m.

Anyone is welcome to attend any chapel service. Robes and wheelchairs are appropriate. If you are unable to attend, you may participate by tuning your television to channel 9 at the appropriate service time. Meditation videos are shown at other times.

Prayer request cards are available in:

  • The ICU lounges
  • The Emergency Care lounge
  • The Surgery waiting area
  • The Chaplaincy office area near the Chapel

Prayer requests will be treated confidentially and remembered at each chapel service throughout the week in which they are submitted.
