Dr. Sowden received his MD degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 1976 and completed his training in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at Ohio State University in 1983. Dr. Sowden took additional training in cardiac surgery at Guy’s Hospital in London, England. Dr. Sowden is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and has achieved Fellowship status in the American College of Surgeons. He is also an active member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
