Cardiac Rehabilitation FAQs

How do I get into a Cardiac Rehabilitation program?
Your doctor will refer you into the program and you will have a low-level treadmill test before you begin treatment.

How long is the program?
The program is three to four days per week for four to 12 weeks.

Does my insurance cover the cost?
Most private insurance programs will cover four to 12 weeks and Medicare/Medicaid will cover 80 percent of the cost for three days per week for 12 weeks. Before you enter the program, one of the staff will check with your insurance company for your specific benefits.

Why do I have to come to Cardiac Rehabilitation when I can exercise on my own?
It is extremely important to be “monitored” during your exercise sessions following a cardiac event, such as a heart attack or heart surgery. For the health of your heart, the staff will monitor your EKG rhythm, heart rate and blood pressure as well as any signs or symptoms. The staff will also be there to answer the many questions that may arise.
